I am not in the US, but my Swiss doctor said I only need to come for a pap every two years, really. I told her I’d feel better sticking to the annual rhythm. She’s fine with it-- and my insurance covers it anyway. That was my intuitive take-- and after reading this, I’m glad of it!

Having just had my annual Gyno checkup your article ( as usual I might add ) was sooo accurate! My Dr said I didn’t need to have a pap every year any more unless I paid for it myself - I said “ that’s ok .. I’ll invest in myself and still continue on my dime “ - didn’t make sense, still doesn’t make sense and thx you again 👌🏻

I posted about the cervical cancer on Heather Cox Richardson, including the URL to this column, in response to her comments that cervical cancer is way down in young women, due to vaccinations against HPV.
