I love you, Deb. And I thank you endlessly, from the bottom of all of my appreciative parts, for all that you do to SPEAK, to educate, to plea on behalf of women, and in my view of humanity. We need you. You are so very important.
I am also sickened, disheartened, and sorry for our country and the world.
I want to thank you for all the work you have done, and continue to do, educating people about these issues.
I am glad I stayed up to watch it myself, as it was unfolding, because otherwise I might not believe it now. To me, it is shocking.
Anyway, thanks for listening, and thanks for always, always, fighting for women and their loved ones on issues that matter so much to us all. Also, thanks to your son for his GOTV efforts.
Love to you and yours today and in the coming days. (Amy Vitali Allen, classmate from college)
Hi Deborah - you have put words to this so beautifully - I will be quoting you a lot in these next weeks. Curious as to why you are are speaking to the billionaires purchase of the White House - Trump would never have come close without them….
Yes. But one specific billionaire is pulling the VP strings. And also it was 3:45 am when I wrote this. It’s more of a spew than a well-crafted essay with every aspect considered.
You are a very articulate writer even at 3:45 am - that is why I subscribe to your substack - AND - someone has to call out the billionaires who have done their best to kill democracy in this election… (particularly the one who has funded / backed JD.)
Oh Deb. I cannot believe how articulate you were at 3:45 am. I was basically a crying mess who couldn't look closely at anything other than the "Trump wins Pennsylvania" headline. In fact, I didn't know until just now that he won everything because I still can't bear to look at headlines—Dave is reading them to Noah. I made Elizabeth turn the news off last night. We all came to Ottawa yesterday, first time the four of us have been together in months, because Dave is getting a big award. So we're here, in my adopted nation's capital, and I'm in complete mourning over my home and native land. (You're welcome to come here. I'd sponsor you, but your friend's boss announced a week or so ago that he's going to cut back on immigration. I hope he changes his mind.)
Hear this morning with you and feeling it deeply as well.
Shocked and sadly at the same time not….Thank you for your words. Onward we go but first self care. Today and these next days of rest and recover and then we have work to do. Going to keep on keeping on.
I've now heard that word, masculinists, several times vis a vis France. Does it mean male chauvinist pigs or some such? Or just dudes who think they run the world, which I guess is the same thing?
They use physical violence against women and are proud of it. It goes beyond "regular" male chauvinism.
The stronger feminists are (and they are really strong in France), the more the violence is unleashed "sans complexe". And that includes actual terrorism

Love you right back, Brenda. ❤️💙💔
Thank you for putting your fury, and mine, so eloquently into words. I would just have said: we’re all fucked.
That, too. 😢

Hi, Amy. Thanks for your vote of confidence and for these kind words. I’m so depressed. But once I get some sleep, the fight begins anew.

I dunno, Deb. You were pretty darned articulate for 3:45 am. All I was capable of at that point was sobbing.
Why you are NOT talking about the billionaires who just purchased the White House - my thumbs are not working correctly right now!
😊

Thank you, Debby. What a shit show.
Same. Shattered and furious. Contemplating where to move. Screaming into the void is not helping. 😵💫
A bike ride helps.
Can’t. Out of the country traveling for the month. Just glad I am not there. I walk miles instead. That helps some.
Hear this morning with you and feeling it deeply as well.

So. Tired.
Yes..sigh…hugs to you…big ones.
You have written what we are all feeling this morning. Thank you. Keep doing what you do. You give voice to our fight.
Thank you. So much.
I wanted to believe we were ready for a woman president. But think about the misogyny Deb writes about. In some ways , she was warning about this.
I’m heartbroken. About all of it.
So beautiful Deb. So beautiful so wrenching - everything
Being a woman is exhausting, isn’t it?
Thank you for articulating what many of us are feeling. We stand with you!
And I stand with you, too!
I cry for US women. Your pain is our pain. Your rage is ours too.
Even in France, the "masculinists" are now emboldened. And far-right nutcases are so close to power. We couldn't feel more concerned and worried.
It really does boggle the mind how hating women can be an appealing political agenda.
I've now heard that word, masculinists, several times vis a vis France. Does it mean male chauvinist pigs or some such? Or just dudes who think they run the world, which I guess is the same thing?
Also terrorists who attack female-only parties as has happened on Halloween: https://www.20minutes.fr/faits_divers/4119568-20241104-paris-femmes-visees-tirs-mortiers-pendant-soiree-interdite-hommes-elles-temoignent

Omg. OMFG!!!!
This is awful I had no idea.
Thank you! Needed this!
Right now I'm crushed. So, thank you for your clarity, your bravery, and your gift of sharing yourself with us.
Right there with you. Numb at the moment. Angry, exhausted, astounded, and disgusted.
