Wow way too much for you and you remain engaged and haven't lost your sense of humor. Sending good luck for the surgery and a speedy recovery and hearing. Thanks for sharing your journey so that others who have this won't think they are crazy.
Wow, that is terrible! OK, a few more questions. 1. This covid inflammation-- can you elaborate? is it scar tissue? swelling? 2. what exactly is the surgery doing-- smushing down scar tissue/swelling? 3. will this bring some hearing back? 4. is it equally bad in both ears?
I've loved your words and heart-felt shares since reading your book (Shutterbabe) so many years ago. Stay strong even while it's OK to lean into self-pity whenever the feeling strikes (which must be often). I'm wishing you all the best and strength and patience. - LF
Was feeling sorry for myself recovering from a fall that resulted in a broken femur when your article hit my feed. I don’t know how you maintain your incredible resilience with all life has thrown at you the past few years both physically and emotionally.
You are one powerful woman. I am in awe of your attitude and your ability to continue to share your talent as you face these obstacles.
.You are such an inspiration to so many of us and your voice is needed now as never before.
Resumes: You may leave off your year of graduation, but many, many companies make you upload your resume in their own website and then it MAKES YOU fill in any missing information that it did not “grab” from your resume. If not, you cannot submit. I have had to fill in start dates and graduation dates of my degrees.
Even if they do not find out then, you meet with an entry level “screener” via Zoom and they can figure out you are “overqualified” (I.e. old).
My goodness, you’ve had more than your share of health traumas. I sure hope this upcoming surgery goes well and brings an excellent outcome. I am flabbergasted at how casual and massless people are in enclosed spaces. I hope your voice reaches others who may be fed up with restrictions but are open to understanding how severe Covid ramifications can be. Thank you for your candor
My thoughts are with you and hoping the procedure is successful. I am certain that you are in the best of competent hands -- figuratively and literally. Sending you loads and loads and loads of positive energy and wishes.

I love your writing so much (but even if I didn't, I would pop in here to wish you a full recovery; your hearing loss sounds scary and expensive).

I can only imagine how difficult it's been- though through your fascinating writings I've learned exactly how difficult it's been.
Along with everyone else, I hope this gives you relief and restores your hearing. What a ride...

I really really want your surgery to go exceptionally well. May you wake up to a symphony going off. Or something like that!
Hope all goes well.

Will be thinking of you and hoping for a good result. I’m so sorry for what you have been through.
Best wishes for successful surgery this week! Your column about the AirPods changed my life. I hope they’ll be able to work for you again.
