For Marion and me, Paris was not a backdrop for selfies. It was the home where we wandered its streets getting lost, in order to find ourselves. Now she's ill, and I see ghosts around every corner.
Deb, this piece ripped my heart out. I can see you and Marion wandering the streets of Paris together. What a magnificent tribute to Marion, to Paris, and to life. I am so sorry that she is sick and send you my love and hugs.
My dear Deb, I didn't know that Marion is ill again and I am so sorry! She has always been a beloved member of our Liaison gang and the time she spent living in New York working with us are among our favorite memories. We had crazy photo agency fun always!
I first met Marion at Gamma in Paris when I visited in 1988 and although we didn't have a close close friendship, she has always been a part of my Gamma Liaison memories - and of my work life those are my favorites! So this news is devastating and I'm in tears.
In recent years we have reconnected through Facebook and I love her photos and she loves mine. I've been planning a trip to Paris in late Spring and meeting her for a drink/coffee had been in my plans. Hopefully we still can and have laughs about favorite photographer antics.
This age we are in, of aging parents and dear friends who get ill can be so hard to navigate and is so emotional and on this beautiful golden Autumn day I will be full of thoughts of dear Marion and sending her positive energy and love.
And for you... hold on. You know that the one thing Marion wants for you above all else is for you to be happy and you are .You have the love you have been looking for all these years and being fully in it and living the life you have built to the fullest is the gift you give to her.
I'm sending you the biggest hug and lots of love and the best wishes to our wonderful Marion. ❤️
I am here this week. Because I take care of my Mom (96 yrs old), I tend to do lunch instead of dinners. Could you meet in Sag Harbor for a lunch at Page on Wednesday? That would be wonderful!
I often save your essays to read during a window of time when I can fully absorb them. Right now I’m sitting on the sofa under a blankie and a purring cat, and the breeze is bringing in a welcome bit of cool. In other words, the ideal circumstances for soaking in this exquisite essay. I just finished reading, and my heart is full and aching. Thank you.
Beautiful…❤️🩹
Thank you. xx
I am weeping.

Yes! I’ll text you!
Heartbreakingly beautiful tribute to your dear friend Marion. I’m so sorry about all of it.
Thank you.
It doesn’t take a lot of friends. just one or two, who will shape our lives, provide understanding, and make life important.
I will never live on the scale that you have, but your openness helps me to appreciate the grandness of my own journey through eighty/-six years,
With deepest compassion for your Marian and for you as you cope with pain and loss.
Thank you, Marcia. See you sooooon!
What a gift your relationship with Marion is. Thank you for sharing it.
She’s the best.
A gorgeous tribute to your friendship and that era
Beautiful. ❤️🩹
